WOLVERINE WORLDWIDE NAMES GENE MCCARTHY PRESIDENT OF MERRELL BRAND

Selecting an industry veteran, in Gene McCarthy, to lead the brand shows the extent to which they wish to succeed in attracting even more runners to their quality running products. Rockford, Michigan, August 22, 2013 — Wolverine Worldwide (NYSE: WWW) today announced the appointment of Gene McCarthy as President of the Merrell brand, effective August 26. Mr. McCarthy is a recognized leader in the footwear and apparel industry and has more than 30 years of experience driving brands to accelerated growth around the world.

Mr. McCarthy joins Merrell with significant brand, strategy, product, marketing and operations experience in the industry, including leadership roles as SVP of Footwear for Under Armour, Co-President for Timberland, SVP of Global Footwear for Reebok, and a variety of leadership roles in his many years with Nike. Mr. McCarthy holds a BS in Marketing from Fordham University.
