HOKA ONE ONE Athlete Mike Wardian Crushes World Marathon Challenge Record

Athlete Mike Wardian, an athlete sponsored by HOKA ONE ONE®, a division of Deckers Brands (NYSE: DECK), set a new record with an average marathon time of 2:45:56 on route to his victory in the 2017 World Marathon Challenge. He bested the previous average of seven marathons run in seven days on seven continents by over 45 minutes and finished an average of 22 minutes, 40 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Petr Vabrousek.

“Wardian is a true master of endurance, so it’s no surprise that he was able to accomplish the remarkable goal he set for himself going into this event,” said Mike McManus, HOKA ONE ONE Senior Sports Marketing Manager. “He’s continually looking for ways to push his limits and this event, with temperature extremes and sleep deprivation, is no exception. We’re proud to stand behind Mike as he kicks off 2017 with this new record.”

The World Marathon Challenge began in Union Glacier, Antarctica, and includes seven races in seven locations: Union Glacier (Antarctica); Punta Arenas (South America); Miami (North America); Madrid (Europe); Marrakesh (Africa); Dubai (Asia); and Sydney (Australia). The event included 33 participants, with 31 runners completing all seven marathons.

Wardian raced in the HOKA ONE ONE Stinson ATR, Clifton 3 and Bondi 5 shoes during the course of the 183-mile, 7 day event finishing with a total accumulated time of 19:21:36
