Nike is no novice when it comes to an on-line presence, and an app for training and motivation. They have had runners log hundreds of millions of runs, with a staggering total of more than 2.5 billion miles. If a relay were set up for that distance, it would circle the Earth more than 108,000 times! The Nike+ Run Club amounts to a reliance of the app, but one which is careful to capture your other runs with the previous version - the Nike+ Running app, good news to the OCD among us (and if you have been running compulsively and recording obsessively, you know what I mean).

The economic landscape of performance running has changed over the past several years and the survival of small brands has required every effort to remain viable. Pearl Izumi is the latest brand to look for healthier markets in other activities, choosing instead to focus on their cycling business. The variety of footwear choices is diminished when even one brand exits, let’s hope this is not a lasting trend.

adidas Will Open Atlanta-Based Facility to Make Shoes in America

NEW BALANCE SIGNS AMERICAN MIDDLE DISTANCE CHAMPION BORIS BERIAN

BOSTON, JUNE 30, 2016– Global athletic leader New Balance announced today the signing of Boris Berian to a multi-year endorsement contract. Berian, who was born in Colorado Springs and ran for Adams State University, is the 2016 U.S. Indoor National Champion and represented the United States at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in the 800 meters where he won the gold medal with an indoor best of 1:45:83.
