Last season was a coming out party for footwear from Craft, already well known by hardcore enthusiasts for its endurance apparel. The CTM Ultra 2 is the update to their 1st trail offering the CTM Ultra, shorthand for Craft Tailored Motion. Round 2 for the CTM Ultra begins with a swap, an engineered mesh upper replacing the mesh and welded overlays of round one. The Ud (ultra distance) midsole foam carries over from round one, thanks to its impressive cushioning properties – enhanced by a Pebax insert, and the tough carbon rubber outersole, which now features a decoupled heel and more chevron shaped lugs under the forefoot to offer even better traction than before. Considering that the CTM Ultra was a great offroad choice, the CTM Ultra 2 is a welcome improvement, ready for impressive trail running, if you are up to it.
Testers: “Really impressive trail shoe! I did not expect to see a shoe this good, though to be fair, their apparel is really top notch, so… Also, that insole, yeah it goes between my trail and road shoes quite often”
