Craft’s CTM series has progressed to a third round, with continued effective trail performance. The upper of the CTM Ultra 3 is a new closed mesh, protecting from trail debris, while breathing well and dissipating heat. The forefoot foxing is extended to the midfoot for better protection with a minimal weight gain. The midsole maintains the high grade EVA with an insert of PEBA, for lightweight, resilient cushioning, and is done particularly well. The outersole is a thin layer of carbon rubber with thicker lugs arranged for effective trail traction. The weight of the shoe is fractionally heavier, but not noticably so. As with the two previous versions, trail performance has driven the design ethos, creating an effective and versatile trail shoe, which can also manage the roads to get there.
Testers: “A really good shoe. Fits well, performs well, and protects. That about covers it.”
