The Cloud Ace is a new addition to the On Running line. It drops in at the top of their range, as a deluxe running shoe. It is a hybrid of sorts, straddling the luxurious and performance ends of the spectrum. The upper is closed mesh with welded support and while not luxurious, it has a comfortably appointed feel to it. The midsole consists of On’s speed board, the snappy polymer plate which is shared by all of their performance shoes, and their unique Clouds, here very beefy to provide a well cushioned feel, though far from a mushy or mattress-like ride. The outersole is a grippy, low profile, rubber sole, with the expected performance and durability. Runners who prefer a firm and responsive feel from a shoe will find the Cloudace has a familiar feeling, but is a more protectively cushioned daily trainer and recovery shoe.
Testers: “Well cushioned, though springy instead of soft. Snug and supportive upper. It’s a fast shoe, so it was good for tempo runs and even my longer races.”
