The Karhu brand from Finland, has been around more than 100 years. I spent a summer there traveling, running, shopping, and competing. Of course the shopping was largely for running gear, Karhu prominent among the choices, and I spent several trips to downtown Helsinki figuring how much I could fit in the suitcase. One of the items I saw was a pair of the pictured track spikes, aimed at the Steeplechase. They featured drainage holes on the medial side, the shoe made of vinyl to survive the inevitable soaking they would take on each of the seven laps of the race. I picked up a pair from the US distributor when they were closing them out many months later.
