The Mariah was Nike’s first steps into Air cushioned road racing, along with the American Eagle, and sandwiched between the iconic Waffle Racer and the Zoom Air footwear. Reissued in 1998, perhaps as a shot in the arm, it was a credible option for racers looking for a shoe in the longer distances, its classic styling a welcomed option. As effective a racer, for its range, it could likely compete with any traditional setup, and would make a good alternative to the forest of plated racers, to keep the foot from losing its muscle tone.
