Thanks to the collaborative efforts of an architect, a podiatrist, and a footwear developer, new shoe company Velocy debuts with a unique shoe. The major difference between this shoe and others on the market is a plate in the midsole that’s designed to move the center of gravity forward by converting linear motion into circular motion, specifically to roll the forefoot forward on landing, which increases running efficiency. The design aesthetic gar- nered its share of compliments among our weartesters, which isn’t always true of new brands. Our testers noted, “Has an interesting rolling feeling; seems quite well cushioned, though the weight is noticeable, especially on longer runs” and “I was surprised that [my] times on some of my routes were a bit faster, especially the shorter ones.”
