The Ultra 100 is Dynafit’s versatile, long range trail shoe. Version 3 makes a few changes to maintain the expectation of the range, and keep the focus on sum of the effective components. The upper reworks the sandwich of supportive, vented mesh, while containing the foot comfortably and effectively. The midsole features a new supercritical foam, which Dynafit calls Speedfoam, and it is particularly well done, as the addition of supercritcal foams have upped the resilience of trail shoes across the board, and the underfoot feel tracks well with the predictably unpredictable surfaces encountered in the wild. The outersole is an effectively lugged Vibram rubber, trail running’s traction “stamp of approval.” Overall the combination of quality, effectiveness, and comfort make the Ultra 100 a product worthy of consideration.
