One of the longer running models in the Altra line, pushing past a decade, the Provision reaches round 8 with a mission – stable running with room for your toes. Of course, that has been Altra’s mantra from the get go, and part of that mission is to provide the upper fit and midsole cushion that fits the variety of zero drop options for the many different foot needs. Beginning with the upper, round 8 features a closed mesh in the heel, rand, and tongue, with effective ventilation across the toes. Smooth internal linings and tongue (all moisture wicking, of course), provide the against the foot comfort by which the Provision has become known. The lacing is standard, but with an internal strap in the midfoot. The midsole features a 28mm stack height, plenty for cushion wothout overdoing it. The medial sidewall offers an extra touch of stability by bringing the topline farther back than the lateral side. The outersole is a tough layer of carbon rubber in the forefoot and lateral heel, with a medial side configured with segmented full length rubber, to provide the additional support and durability needed by the mobile foot. If the Provision has been your shoe of choice, stick with it, and if it sounds like what you are looking for, well, only you can decide if it works for you.
Testers: “Tough, firm, and stable, in a good looking shoe.”
