Altra Rivera 3

The Rivera 3 is the update to Altra’s solution for runners who need a little extra toe space, instead of a lot of extra toe space. Its profile is a little low slung though with good cushioning, making it a  versatile choice for tempo runs or longer races, and even daily training for runners who prefer a lighter weight shoe. The upper features a full-length monomesh, as before, providing good ventilation and flexibility. The fit is unchanged, though narrower than the standard Altra fit. The midsole is a bouncy, zero drop setup, familiar to the Altra converts, though more runners might benefit from the improved kinetic chain flexibility their use could bring. The full contact outersole saves some weight by limiting the rubber used, about a third of the sole is toughened AltraEGO, but delivers plenty of traction for roads and walkways. As an update, it delivers everything from round 2 the fans demand, and for newcomers, welcome to zero drop.

Testers: “Didn’t know that I was looking for the Rivera 3, but I’m glad we found each other. Gotta love a versatile trainer for my weekly runs.” and “Better fit for me than other Altra shoes I’ve tried. These are not too wide, they’re just right.”
