The Fuji Racer is a new trail shoe in the ASICS line. Light, flexible and protective, as its names suggests it is for faster running on trails. The upper is open mesh with the typical midfoot overlays, but with welded overlays in the forefoot, smoothing and securing the roomy fit. The heel and midfoot are snug, a little like a sports car’s seating, and perhaps for the same reason. The midsole is nicely cushioned for the roads without mushing out on the trails. The outersole, while not heavily lugged, uses negative space effectively in providing a grippy-ness while lightening the shoe a bit. This combination results in a snug, lightweight, performance trail shoe with a nimble feel.
