How many shoes make it to version 24, and especially as a perennial favorite? The Gel-Nimbus series has experienced success by offering a plush, neutral ride, with durability and a deluxe feel. This round adds to the mix with a new midsole compound, improved midfoot fit, and a smooth resilient ride. The Gel Nimbus has been Asics’ pinnacle daily neutral trainer through 23 iterations, with their best materials and designs. Round 24 takes it up a notch, with a subtle new design. The upper features a new Jacquard knit, in a sort of modified monosock, poviding a best of both worlds – close fitting and supportive, without strangling the foot. The midsole is a new compound, FF Blast+, which incorporates less weight, and a cushier feel, but maintains a bouncy resilience. The outersole provides durability and traction, thanks to well placed arcs of toughened rubber in the forefoot – a design which offers traction and flexibility, and denser lugs on the perimeter of the heel to manage the landings mile after mile. The result is a durable everyday training shoe with the cushion, traction, and fit, to keep your distance and competition goals, not only tamed, but with top tier comfort and durability.
Testers: Great protective cushioning with a good responsive feel. Snug fit puts your foot right over the midsole. The Gel-Nimbus 24 really made me look forward to the long runs, and my marathon training got a needed boost.
