The Novablast 3 is the latest update to ASICS’ Novablast series. Round three presents the series’ best midsole yet, along with some streamlining of the upper while maintaining ASICS’ expected fit. The upper features an engineered woven mesh, with stylized alternation between openings to give the shoe a fast appearance, and the use of recycled materials which provide performance with a light environmental touch. It is secure while allowing good toeroom, comfort, its thin and pliable gusseted suede tongue completing the conforming fit. The midsole is a contoured design of FF Blast, ASICS’ bio-foam formulation, which features an 8mm drop from its 31mm stack height. The ride is what you’d expect from an oversized sole, and while it doesn’t feature the performance optimizing plate, managing the marathon distance would be within its capacity. The outersole is spare, a Novablast trait that keeps things light without sacrificing traction or actual durability, covering the perimeter and with an “8” shaped pod beneath the ball of the foot, for effective traction in normal conditions. The bottom line is that the Novablast series continues to provide cushioning, fit and comfort to keep getting you out the door for your daily run.
