Hoka’s Mach series has been an effective tempo family. Good genes and intelligent design have kept the series in the front pack. The upper remains much the same as round five, here with an inviting interior – a gusseted tongue which is smooth, breathable, and nicely conforming to the foot. The remainder of the upper is a closed mesh to shed the elements, while evacuating the heat and moisture from the working foot. The midsole is an effectively contoured single density foam, keeping the shoe nice and light, a full length flex groove aiding the flexibility. The outersole is a tough, thin layer of rubber, replacing the toughened foam from the previous versions. The result is a light, responsive shoe for faster running, as well as longer races.
Testers: “Light weight, with a cushiony bounce and fast feel. Great for speedier days. Fits like a slipper, and just as light.”
