The Huaka seemingly came out of nowhere, its hybrid-like features striking a better balance than many of the other Hoka shoes. The upper is a closed mesh with sublimated graphics and HF welded overlays, which breathes well and fits well, thanks to elastic straps across the lace throat and secured by quick transition lacing. The midsole is a firm, oversized configuration, though lower than other Hoka models. The outersole is toughened foam and raised portions of the sole provide grip and durability. Whether the Huaka hits a home run or not, it points to what is possible with the brand.
