The Vertical K is named for a type of mountain race that gains 1000 feet in elevation as steeply as the trail permits. In similar fashion La Sportiva has raised the elevation of innovation in its footwear product with the new Vertical K. The upper is a two layered design, an open mesh inner layer coved by a gaiter-like quilted outer layer of stretchy polyester to wick moisture while smoothing the profile. The midsole features geometry to encourage efficiency – a 4 millimeter heel to toe drop, great flexibility, and a resilient adaptable feel for the trail. the outersole is carbon rubber with a low profile, in part shaped by a wavy midsole profile, and traction from the lugs as well as the negative space created by the waves and segmentations in the sole. The upshot is the Vertical K is a cushy low profile racer that can handle trail racing needs, and its innovation and performance earned it Best New Shoe in the Trail category.
