The 1080 is one of the longest running neutral running shoes in the New Balance line. Version 10 takes a little detour from the DNA of the shoe, but hones in on function and purpose in big way, justifying the visual departure. The oversized midsole takes its cues from recovery shoes that have been successful in the market, including other models within the New Balance line. The Fresh Foam formulation once again proves very effective here. The upper features an accommodating stretch mesh with an Achilles tendon friendly heel design which flares away from the rearfoot to eliminate friction at the ankle collar. The outersole design jigsaws with carbon rubber, blown rubber, and exposed midsole, placing durable rubber at the heel and toe, while the geometry of the midsole and generous pods of blown rubber fill in the gaps, simultaneously keeping the weight down. The ride, fit, and feel, create a synergy which makes the 1080v10 a winner in both the update and performance departments.
