The 110 is the update to the 101, New Balance’s ultra light trail racing shoe. This time around there have been a number of changes from top to bottom. The upper is a ventilated synthetic with a smooth vinyl surface that sheds moisture, a smoothly lined interior, while the venting releases heat and moisture from the shoe. The midsole has been completely changed from the first round, here featuring geometry with a 4 millimeter heel to toe drop, encouraging a flatter footstrike, then cushioning with a resilient layer of foam. The outersole is a new lugged pattern arranged to provide traction on ascents or descents, wrapping up to an effectively protective toe bumper. The end result is an efficient racer with a light touch, excellent traction, and enough protection for your trail race day.
