New Balance’s success with the 890 translates to racing in the 1400. The upper is a stripped down closed mesh with minimal overlays, and just enough foam in the ankle collar for comfort. The single density Revlite midsole is very well cushioned, extending its effective distance from the shorter distances, like a road mile, to the longest distances you wear racing shoes for. The outersole consists of well placed rubber chips and minimal dense rubber in the high wear areas of the sole. The combination of fit, ride, and durable cushioning earned the RC 1400 the Best Racing Shoe honors for 2011.
