Nike unveils Lunar Lite, a midsole foam named for its partnership with NASA. A combination of high-quality EVA and Nitrile rubber, Lunar Lite is very lightweight with outstanding resiliency and durability. Up top, the Lunar Trainer features lightweight open mesh that’s thin and breathable, with minimal overlays for support. Not much, but since it’s designed for neutral runners, it’s enough. The midsole shaping is reminiscent of the ’70s, with heel and forefoot flares for stability. Deep grooves in the heel compress for additional cushioning, but its forward pitch means you may have to size up. The outersole lugs compress into the midsole for additional rebound. Outstanding performance and well-executed, innovative technology earned the Lunar Trainer our Best New Shoe award.
“Wow! The best of both worlds: lightweight, yet lots of cushion…3 four-letter words: Love This Shoe!”
