The “Hayasa” takes its name from the Japanese word for “speed,” and its design cues from the Single Track, with similarities in fit and function, with some significant differences as well. The upper is a small open mesh, breathable while still keeping out most of the trail dustiness. It features a protective saddle design, a thin matrix of synthetic suede, sandwiched between the layers of mesh and attached to the eyestay secures the midfoot fit, while welded overlays and a complete rand, round out the design. The midsole, while similar to the Single-Track II, is much lower profile, and effectively balances road cushioning with trail feel, as much as a performance shoe can. The outersole is covered with low profile lugs, enough for trail traction without reducing effectiveness on the road getting there. The light weight, versatile sole design, and effective fit make the Single Track Hayasa a performance trail shoe worth considering.
