Puma has upped its game in recent seasons, with top running products across the board. The attention has been focussed on top materials and design. The Voyage Nitro 3 has differentiated from the 2 prior versions with a noticeably improved performance orientation. Beginning with the upper, a protective closed mesh to keep the elements out, that secures the foot comfortably with a gusseted tongue, and features additional lacing options with plastic anchors linked to the ankle collar. The midsole is Puma Nitro supercritical foam, a lively formulation that is both protective and durable. The outersole, PumaGrip ATR by name, is a toothy trail tread oriented for traction, its lugs deflecting into the midsole when encountering hard surfaces, for balance and control. The carbon rubber formulation is tough enough to cover some roads, but shines on the trail, whether wet or dry. Puma Trail Running has a serious contender in the Voyage Nitro 3.
Testers: “Traction, comfort, and durability, these get the job done for me.”
