The most notable thing about the Armadillo is its protective exterior. This is true whether describing the animal or Reebok’s new trail shoe offering. Tough mesh, synthetic leather, abrasion resistant toe and heel, and rubbery support strapping of the upper shield the foot from trail detritus while the full length TPU plate and bi-density lugged sole take care of traction and ward off potential stone bruises or penetraion of thorns or sharp objects. The return to Hexalite cushioning in the heel may allay fears associated with liquid or gas cushioning leaks, as it is reliant on neither. Forefoot cushioning is adequate, but future updates may wish to focus on specific solutions to balance protection and cushioning behind the toes. The suggested retail price is a strong suggestion to pick up a trail shoe.
