The FloatRide Energy series has been something of a best kept secret. It is a well made, lightweight, quality running shoe at a really good price. So what do you get for your money? I’m glad you asked. The upper is a closed mesh with fused overlays providing support. Reflective coatings improve visibility when headlights shine on the overlays, enhanced by the moving foot. The closed mesh breathes well, holds the foot securely and offers good comfort and security. The outersole has an effective herringbone-like design, with low profile lugs oriented for grip, the forefoot lugs facing back, the heel lugs facing forward. The midsole is perhaps its best feature, a well shaped, pelletized, polymer foam which has a springy ride, for high mileage protection and durability. Don’t let the bargain price fool you, the Floatride Energy 5 is a legit performer.
