The Guide has been a staple in the Saucony line for 17 iterations, providing stability, durability and value. The Guide 18 is done well, providing comfort, protection and good durability. The upper is a tough, well ventilated mesh, with a roomy fit, and lacing options to fit most feet thanks to good lace length and plenty of eyelets. The midsole is Saucony’s durable PWR-Run foam, a bouncy blend of polymers with a good combination of durability and protection. The outersole is spare, a rim of tough rubber on the perimeter of the forefoot and the medial and lateral heel to handle the high wear areas, while the toughened skin of the blown midsole foam manages the day-to-day mileage with aplomb. The overall performance is reliable for training and daily mileage, and a workhorse for stable, mainstream running.
Testers: “The Guide has been a reliable shoe for me over a number of years. I was particularly pleased with the durability and smooth ride for my sometimes wobbly feet. Very stable, and pretty good looking as well.”
