Under Armour has gone through several iterations with their HOVR technology, to adapt and advance it to satisfy the needs and differences between runners. The Phantom has been updated with several of the changes that the running shoes in the HOVR line have experienced. The upper continues the knit monosock design, with a thin, thermoformed saddle supporting the midfoot, and the lacing loops have been changed from flat webbing to chorded loops, which comform better to snug the upper to the foot. The innersole is permanent, with a cushy layer of memory foam strategically placed through the heel, arch, and forefoot. The midsole is an EVA shell with the combination of HOVR foam wrapped in the amorphous Energy Web. This combination provides good underfoot cushion, though at a cost of a little extra weight. The outersole is a lattice of carbon rubber which is grippy as well as durable. The comfort and cushy ride stand out, in particular if you are looking for a shoe to handle your long distance running needs.
